Wiring and Panels Built for Today's Homes
Your home's wiring and electrical panel work quietly in the background until something changes. Add a hot tub, an EV, a heat pump or a new kitchen, and suddenly your system has to do a lot more. Simpson Electric has been wiring Northern Colorado homes since 1984. We'll make sure yours is safe, up to code and ready for what's next.
From a single new circuit to a full panel upgrade or rewire, our licensed electricians do it right the first time and explain everything along the way.
Signs Your Wiring or Panel Needs Attention
Breakers that trip often, especially when a big appliance runs
A panel that's full, with no room for new circuits
A panel that's warm, buzzing or rusty
Lights that dim when the AC, dryer or microwave turns on
Two-prong, ungrounded outlets throughout the house
Aluminum or knob-and-tube wiring in an older home
Burning smells, scorch marks or warm outlets
An inspection report that flagged electrical issues

How It Works
Tell us what's going on. What you're adding, what's tripping or what the inspector flagged.

Test and clean up. Everything is tested and your home is left tidy.
Panel and Service Upgrades
Your electrical panel is the heart of your home's system. Many older Northern Colorado homes still have 100-amp service and panels that are full or near the end of their life. That makes it hard to add anything new without tripping breakers.
A panel or service upgrade gives you room to grow, whether that's an EV charger, a heat pump, a hot tub or a finished basement.
More capacity for modern appliances
Room for new circuits
Safer, more reliable breakers
Required for many EV, heat pump and remodel projects
Rewiring Older Homes
Older homes have charm, but their wiring wasn't built for today's power needs. Knob-and-tube, aluminum branch wiring and ungrounded circuits can be unsafe and make it hard to insure or sell a home.
We rewire room by room so you can stay in your home while we work. We'll talk through what needs replacing now and what can wait, so you can plan the project around your budget.

Circuits and Wiring FAQs
How do I know if I need a panel upgrade?
Common signs: your panel is full, breakers trip often, it's warm to the touch, or you're adding a big load like an EV charger, heat pump or hot tub.
How long does a panel upgrade take?
Most are done in a day. We'll coordinate with your utility if the power needs to be shut off.
What's the difference between a panel upgrade and a service upgrade?
A panel upgrade replaces the box with your breakers. A service upgrade increases how much power comes into your home, like going from 100 to 200 amps. Some homes need one, some need both.
Do I need to rewire my whole house?
Not always. We'll check your wiring and tell you honestly what needs replacing now and what can wait.
Can you add a circuit without upgrading my panel?
Often, yes, if your panel has room and capacity. We'll check first.
Do you pull permits?
Yes. We handle permits and inspections when the job needs them.
Is aluminum wiring dangerous?
Older aluminum branch wiring can loosen and overheat at connections. It's worth having it inspected and repaired or replaced.
